Social Projects
The Dive Shop Cambodia strives to improve the life of the local community at Koh Rong island by running programs such as healthcare initiatives and english classes.
Whenever possible we have doctors, dentists and nurses (local and foreign) staying on the island to provide easily accessible medical assistance. We have provided financial support for more serious cases, brought people to the hospital for x-rays, surgery and operations.
To improve the quality of life for the islanders, we have built a new bridge making it easier for the children to reach the school. We built a public incinerator big enough to burn the garbage of the whole village in an environmentally fiendly way. We also currently provide water for half of the village. In the near future we hope to build a dam to provide water for the rest of the inhabitants. Finally, volunteers are frequently coming to teach english or help in healthcare to improve the childrens health and career opportunities for their future.
The Dive Shop Cambodia also employs an english teacher to improve the language skills of the kids on Koh Rong. Katie, affectionately named "teach" by her students, runs two classes almost every day. Her friendly personality as well as her extraordinary teaching skills make her an important part of the local community!
Volunteers are welcome to join us in increasing the standard of life of the villagers in the Koh Tui Village. If you are interested in helping, please dont hesitate to give us an email.
