he overnight trips take you to the Island of Koh Rong where we have a Khmer Style house. The house is located directly on the pier from which there are beautiful views across the bay. From here with the right conditions you can spend the evening watching the moon rise over the horizon, an amazing sight. Remember to take your camera as this is well worth a few pictures, especially during the full moon period (although there are no parties!). The accomodation is basic, in a dorm style layout. It is clean, with mosquito nets on all the bunks.
After a day of diving it is a beautiful, tranquil setting with the option of having a few drinks at the village ’bar’ or just relaxing on the balcony after a hard day of diving watching the coming and going of everyday life in a traditional Khymer fishing village.
If you decide to do a night dive we start our dive straight off the pier after the sun goes down, swimming from the shallow water out across the bay. There is plenty to see. With most marine life being nocturnal feeders it is a hive of activity. Ask your guide if you can switch off your torches and watch the phosphorous display. During your dive a selection of dishes will be cooked by a local village woman for your evening meal.
The next morning after a lay in (compared with the day divers that is!) you will have breakfast cooked for you whilst you wait for the boat to pick you up about 10am for the first dive of the day. |
